ABSTRACTS AND INTRODUCTIONS OF SPEAKERS
(all talks at the Minisymposium are invited)

Adaptive Antennas for Interference Suppression in Satellite Navigation Systems
V.V. Konin, Ph.D., D.Sc., Professor
Information-Diagnostic Systems Institute, NAU, Kiev, Ukraine
e-mail: konin@nau.edu.ua

The talk is devoted to low-sized antenna arrays for satellite navigation receivers that are adaptive to signals and interferences. The possibility of 30-60 dB interference suppression without loses of satellite signals is theoretically shown.
Brief Bio: born 1943, graduated from Rybinsk aviation technology institute, Ph.D. from Kiev Military Aviation University, D.Sc. from Kiev Polytechnic University. Main fields: satellite navigation, microwaves, math simulation.

Aircraft Collision Avoidance System
V.V. Belkin, Chief Designer & Director
Research Institute “Buran”, Kiev, Ukraine
e-mail: bvv@public.ua.net

The concept, construction features, performances and test results of the collision avoidance system for civil aircraft that was recently developed in the Research Institute “Buran” is discussed.
Brief Bio: Vladimir Belkin is a chief designer of the Research Institute “Buran”. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic University, Ukraine; elected as Academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine and twice Ukraine State prize winner in the field of Science and Technology for achievements in avionics. Author of a number of scientific works and invention patents.

Passive Millimeter Wave Imaging Systems
A.G. Denisov, Ph.D., Director
State Research Center of Superconductive Radioelectronics “Iceberg”, Kiev, Ukraine
e-mail: denisov@ukrpack.net

Passive mm wave imaging systems are considered. Possibilities of radiometers for the remote observation including security purposes are demonstrated. The developed 8 mm system with 32 sensors provides 120 x 15 degrees field-of-view and displays the acquired image during 3 seconds.
Brief Bio: graduated from Moscow Physical Engineering Institute, Ph.D. from Institute of Metallurgy of Academy of Science of USSR. Scientific interests in radio-physics, cryophysics, josephsonics, acoustics, thermal physics, optics, solid state physics, nuclear physics, superconductivity. Author of 27 patented inventions and more than 110 scientific works.

Robustness of Aircraft Control Systems as a Way to Increase Flight Safety
A.A. Tunik, Ph.D., D.Sc., Professor,
Electronics and Control Systems Institute, NAU, Kiev, Ukraine
e-mail: aatunik@yahoo.com

Robust aircraft control systems are discussed. It is shown that robust approach to aircraft control system synthesis is an effective way to increase flight safety for both manned and unmanned aircraft.
Brief Bio: graduated from Kharkov Polytechnic University, Ph.D. and D.Sc. both from Kiev Cybernetic Institute of NANU; worked in China, USA, and South Korea as scientist and teacher. Main fields: robust flight control and integrated navigation systems. 238 published scientific works and 6 books.
